High-bay fluorescent certainly seems to be the biggest growth opportunity to come along for a long time for the fluorescent fixture makers. In fact, Orion Energy Systems had a pretty successful IPO last year based essentially on that product alone. That's probably the only IPO of a traditional light fixture manufacturer in the last twenty years.

Having said that, LED lighting is now addressing the same space. At Albeo (www.albeotech.com), we recently announced our Constellation High Bay LED light fixture that competes directly with HID and high bay fluorescent.

I'd Like to find out whether the manufacturers of IRC globes are able to reproduce this same outcome in an aluminium backed globe.
Many new downlights in the Australian Market will do not deal succesfully with the heat directed backwards from a standard dichroic and must be relamped with cool fit lamps only.
Should the IRC globe become the new standard as far as minimum efficiancy performance standards (MEPS) in Australia will there be a suitable cool fit globe available?
Should we be discouraging the sale of such fittings?

I think part of the problem for people when it comes to switching is the initial cost of the compact florescent, between $8 and $12 depending of the store and the light output. I do have one secret for getting around that cost; go to an electrical wholesale warehouse. My husband works at one and they sell the compacts for more like $4 or $5 each. We are going to be giving 1 or 2 out to everyone this Christmas.
